A mixture of RPG, racing, and action, Crash Tag Team Racing is a hilarious edition to the Crash Bandicoot series. The goofy characters, insane plot, and secrets will make you want to explore every nook and cranny of the worlds. The Die-O-Ramas are well worth searching for and the mini games are hilarious as well.
Make sure to get every Power Crystal and coins as well. You can buy lots of different things such as outfits, vehicle upgrades, etc.
Although the cast of characters are great, no Crash game is complete without Aku Aku though. I missed him. He has cameos on the first track I believe, but he's not a main character sadly. And from what I've seen of the latest Crash games, they seriously messed up Aku Aku. He doesn't look right at all and his character has changed. For that I'm disappointed.
If you want to laugh, explore, and race this is the game for you. Once again, gaming's beloved ex-Naughty Dog marsupial has been hopping around from one development team to another, and this time's lucky group of ducklings happens to be Radical Entertainment.
They're history with video games is rather mixed, consisting of games such as the 'edutainment' Mario games on NES, as well the abominable Wayne's World game on the same console, but in later years, they've received positive reception from handling licenses such as The Incredible Hulk and The Simpsons. How did they do with their first Crash game? Let's find out. While the previous Crash racing games had the same nonsensical story involving an alien that wants the characters to race for amusement, this game settles on a rather unappealing scientific genius trying to maintain a dangerous amusement park, but alas his Power Gems have been stolen. To get them back, Crash has to go and collect Power Crystals to activate jump pads to nab the missing Gems. Wait.I thought this was a racing game?
Power Crystal collecting is involved in this? Believe it or not, Crash Tag Team Racing indeed does have a lot more than just arcade-esc kart-racing. The single-player adventure will have you move around in elaborate worlds that are not unlike those of Crash Twinsanity, albeit more compressed and confined than such. At first, I was slightly disappointed in how the game doesn't run at 60fps like Twinsanity does, but I've grown accustomed to it quick. The sense of humor, on the other hand, is what I still find flawed. Funny moments are not as common as before, as there are only 11 minutes of cutscene footage for the plot, and even then they don't focus on humor as much as they should. Meanwhile, the game encourages you to kill Crash yourself by various over-the-tops means labeled as 'Die-O-Ramas', a collection of forced gags whose punchlines get detected the moment the game indicates you can trigger something with a suspicious object, therefore losing its comedic factor instantly.
Also, please don't press any buttons during the loading screens unless you LOVE hearing burps and farts. Now with that out of the way, there is quite a lot to do in the amusement parks you visit. Scattered all around the place are Wumpa Coins and breakable boxes (as well as enemy penguins), allowing Crash to do his thing and collect bunches of coins by smashing stuff in sight.

There are also gates that would take you to a track, and allow you to select a game mode for what kind of racing you want to do. There is the usual 3-lap racing, a 1-lap time trial, running into things, etc. There are even minigames you can play which can consist of stylized shooting galleries or penguin bowling.
Power Crystals can be earned in several ways - You can win a race, place first in a different game mode or minigame, buy them off of NPCs, find them in the worlds themselves, or even go on fetch quests (which are usually for unlockable costumes and characters). The amount of variety there is to reaching your goal of gathering all these Crystals is actually pretty admirable, and the controls work nicely enough, if a tad loose.
The bowling minigame is particularly my favorite (aside from racing of course) due to the constant change-up of lanes and further ability to control your ball. Of course, racing is the key gameplay in a game with 'Racing' in the title; there are a good amount of tracks to choose from, but they are honestly not so inspired in comparison to Crash's earlier kart-racing ventures or even Pac-Man World Rally. They're just.there, to serve their purpose as tracks and not that much more. The item selection is kind of lackluster, too, but fortunately, I find myself clashing with my opponents too much to care!
Kart-clashing is the selling feature to the racing mechanics in this game, and that said, using a gun turret with types of ammo depending on the kart you hijack is addictive; it's always fun to witness a kart blow up after doing enough damage to it, and I can even place first while on an opponent's kart! Overall, while this definitely not a Mario Kart by any means, Crash Tag Team Racing does still manage to put together an interesting collage of gameplay concepts and ideas that mostly work out for the better in the end. Beneath the unnecessary bodily sounds and obnoxious voice for Crash (this is the first game where Crash gets to speak in gibberish thanks to Jess Harnell) is a game that is by no means perfect, but still shines enough for players to have a good time with it. This game is one heck of a racer! The clashing ability is great, your able to upgrade you car, and your able to play in the great non-racing mode! Pros: Racing and Spinning Clash and form a 360 degree turret Decent amount of characters and tracks Cons: Not for PSP Same old racing No Online Play Not multi-route racing(like Midnight club 3 DUB) (Maybe when they create some cities or Islands like N.
Sanity Island or other areas based off other previous games, but thats just what I think would make 10X more fun). I usually love the crash racing games but this one fails completely. Unlike the other games you have to unlock every world before you can race in a non championship mode. In other words if I just want to race quickly without having to play an actual story mode game I can't. That really sucks, it is also difficult to find all the worlds and tasks that you are given to unlock other characters.
I also do not like the tracks so far. Way too complicated, I thought the team racing thing would be cool but it is more of a distraction and makes it difficult to know where you are going. I found the other tracks from part 1 and 2 much more user friendly and fun. I feel as I play the game that I am spending more time on crashs's feet as opposed to on a cart and if I wanted to play the normal crash game I would have bought that instead!

Overall not a good game at all.
